Rainbow Children’s Hospital Opens in Bengaluru

Bengaluru : Rainbow Children’s Hospital - India’s leading paediatric healthcare chain announced its entry into Bengaluru with a 200 bed multispecialty children hospital in Marathahalli. Built with an investment of about Rs. 90 crores, it’s a built-to-suit super specialty children’s hospital with advanced perinatal center in Marathahalli, Bengaluru.
The exclusive facility has been designed by international architects backed by 15 years of clinical experience of team Rainbow. The hospital has well-planned and seamlessly designed separate wings for children and expecting mothers.
Union Minister of Urban Development, Housing & Urban Poverty Alleviation & Parliamentary Affairs - Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu will formally inaugurate the hospital on October 11, 2015.
This tertiary care children’s hospital houses advanced Intensive Care Services for newly born and children dedicating almost 35% of the beds. These Intensive Care Services would cater for the city of Bengaluru and also offer transport services up to 200 km radius of Bengaluru. The hospital has established all the sub specialties under one roof including Neurology, Nephrology, Gastroenterology, Hematology, Oncology, Endocrinology and Advanced Pediatric Surgery.
Rainbow has the largest tertiary NICU (50 bed) in the private sector in Bengaluru, with an attached perinatal center including fetal medicine and high-risk obstetrics. It has a 24 bed multi-disciplinary Children’s Intensive Care Unit.
Speaking to media Dr. Ramesh Kancharla, Chairman and Managing Director, Rainbow Group of Hospitals said, “In India, we do not have children specialty hospitals like in the developed world. Globally there are dedicated children hospitals with capacity of up to 800 beds. India is mainly driven by primary and secondary healthcare. Tertiary care specialties for children are not built mainly because they are viewed not to be financially viable. There is also lack of expertise in the pediatric specialty. The high cost of infrastructure is another deterrent. Unlike adult hospitals, children’s hospital requires very skilled professionals on site 24x7 as 80% of cases in a children hospital are emergencies compared to 20% in adult hospitals.”
“Our vision is to bring world-class multispecialty children’s care along with advanced intensive care services to the city of Bengaluru and rest of Karnataka. We all know that Bengaluru is one of the fastest growing cities with a large young parents and children population. We believe that the advanced health care model for children is the need of the hour” he added.
Rainbow Children’s Hospital has emerged as the leading and most acclaimed children's hospital in the country with outstanding recognition and awards. The hospital has 700 beds in six locations in Hyderabad, Vijaywada and Bengaluru.
Dr. Dinesh Chirla, Director, Rainbow Group, Dr. Kishore Phadake, Clinical Director, Rainbow Children’s Hospital Marathahalli and Mr. Sreenivasan Nagarajan, Nominee Director, CDC and Head of South Asia, CDC Group Plc. were present on the occasion.
